TEST OF KINSHIP BY DNA ANALYSIS

Paternity of one person to another, both submitting samples, is to be proved or disproved:
Paternity “practically proven” means a probability of genetic paternity of at least 99,99%, approaching 100%. Exclusion of paternity is 100%.

Your analysis is performed exclusively in our laboratory in Vienna. At no time samples are sent away, and the most stringent controls are used to ensure exactness and security of results!

The process starts when you send your signed contract and we receive or take test samples. Please decide beforehand between a legal certificate for court or a private report for personal use.

Rely on Confidence and get the information for certainty. We offer a professional team of experts in molecular biology and genetics, and will introduce you to excellent consultants for legal or psychological problems if required.

Our laboratory is checked using stringent internal controls and is certified through external audits (see quality, safety and security of data).

Your confidential DNA-Analysis performed in our laboratory gives reliable results in 2 working days following receipt of the samples. Reports can be sent by postal service, by fax if requested, or by using the secure user account system on our website (with your personal user ID and password).

The report is a confidential document that has a scientific description of the genetic patterns involved. Information about test procedures is included.
In today's world, security is very important. The user-account system on our website offers the highest level of encryption and security possible. This means you can rest assured that communications between your browser and our site's web servers are private and 100% secure.

Why DNA-Analysis?

  • You are in doubt of your parentage
  • You are uncertain of your relation to your relatives
  • You require an expert witness for court
  • You suspect a case of mistaken identity of babies
  • You would like to know if your babies are identical or fraternal twins
  • You want to trace your genealogical background over several generations.
  • You would like to clarify issues regarding claims of inheritance.

First of all, fathers are not always beyond doubt about their paternity. Various statistics have shown that appr. 10 % of newborn babies are “cuckoo’s eggs”, meaning their alleged father is not their biological one.

From first questioning his paternity and registering reasonable doubt, a father has a 2-year period to deny his paternity, to have it examined and if not the father, to bring an action for damages.

There are various reasons why a mother may claim that a certain man is the father of her child. These could be social, personal, economic or some other reason. Please allow these reasons to be important contributions in family discussions and for understanding underlying factors. We advise against forming overhasty judgements or making unfounded accusations. You may look to our experts for legal and psychological support as well as for mediation. They are just a "click" away under "contacts" in the main menu

We regard your problems seriously and give you certain information so you can be sure of your family connection.

Ethical aspects

DNA-analysis produces an individual genetic profile based on information from 16 markers which bind on certain regions of 14 different chromosomes. Kinship DNA testing is a well established routine procedure using techniques from molecular biology to identify genetic relationships between people. The majority of the microsatellite loci we look at have no obvious function and we therefore do not gain any knowledge of personal qualities or a person's risk of disease. DNA profiling has nothing to do with gene testing or medical diagnostic tests. These data do not give any information concerning character or disposition of a person. We take the DNA-profile solely for comparison studies between two people based on statistical calculations including frequencies of alleles in local populations. Our DNA-analysis is based upon the question: “are two people related to one another or not?“(kinship testing), or "do two samples come from one and the same person?" (identity testing).
This method of analysis is exclusively for the study of kinship or identity.
In our laboratory at Confidence DNA Analysis, we routinely perform a broad spectrum of paternity and DNA identity tests. This allows us to report results which have a high level of certainty.

For example, to determine whether or not two people are siblings, half-siblings, or genetically unrelated.

We will perform tests on samples taken from unborn babies only if obtained by a doctor using the amniocentisis or chorionic villis sampling procedures, and then only if the case is one of suspected incest or suspected rape. It is the responsibility of your medical advisers to evaluate the importance and risk of these procedures.
